Assistant Executive Housekeeper
Your Role
As Assistant Executive Housekeeping, you will support the Executive Housekeeper in supervising all housekeeping and laundry operations to ensure a clean, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for both guests and staff. You will be actively involved in managing the housekeeping team by overseeing recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations, while fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. A key part of your responsibilities will include identifying and reporting maintenance issues, assessing the general condition of facilities, and taking the necessary steps to address any concerns promptly.
You will conduct regular inspections of the laundry operations, supply rooms, and storage areas to ensure optimal organization and cleanliness, while making sure that all equipment and cleaning products are used correctly and safely. In close coordination with the Front Office, you will communicate daily on room status and ensure readiness for guest arrivals. You will uphold and monitor cleanliness standards in line with company procedures, ensuring they are consistently met throughout the property.
Additionally, you will be responsible for managing quarterly and daily inventories of housekeeping and laundry supplies, linen, and chemicals, maintaining appropriate stock levels at all times. In collaboration with the Executive Housekeeper, you will also contribute to labor planning, cost control, budgeting, and forecasting activities, ensuring the department runs efficiently and within budget.
This is not a ‘Standard’ Assistant Executive Housekeeping position so you will need to have miles and miles of personality and stamina, be highly social, upbeat and friendly; confident and can handle pressure well; thrive in a high-volume, high-energy environment and able to work equally well both independently and as part of a team.
Compétences requises:
Do you have what it takes to be our Assistant Executive Housekeeping at The Standard, Brussels?
A minimum of 3+ years as a Governant, Assistant Executive Housekeeping, etc gained within a similar Lifestyle Hotel or large 4- or 5-star Hotel in Brussels or the Benelux region is essential for this role
In addition to this, the ideal candidate will also…
• Have a solid understanding and detailed knowledge of the Brussels Hotel market along with F&B practices and management trends.
• Experience in Housekeeping Management, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting
• Strong leadership skills with experience in supervising and motivating teams
• Be a confident and proactive self-starter ideally with strong project management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards
• Experience in staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluation
• Solid communication skills, including coordination with the Front Office and other departments
• Be flexible on the hours and ready to be hands on.
• Familiarity with safety and hygiene standards, including proper handling of equipment and products
• Experience working with the following systems: Opera, HyGeo, etc
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong Administration and Excel skills
• Fluency in French and/or Dutch in addition to English is preferred for this role
